My massage
integrates various modalities (techniques) which can be tailored to meet
any particular needs or desires for the session. The massage can be
focused primarily on relaxation and quieting your mind and body... or
the session can include more attention to muscles which are particularly
tense and need loosening and stretching. Sometimes you might prefer a
massage that is designed to loosen blocks, relieve stress and energize
your body. Some of the modalities I incorporate in my sessions are:
- Swedish massage
- myofascial
release
- lymphatic
drainage
- breath work
- deep tissue
- Thai massage
techniques (which involve a lot of stretching and compressions)
I use a high-quality massage lotion
which contains avocado, carrot, wheat germ oils
and other extracts that contribute to a healthier skin. After the
massage your skin is left feeling soft without the greasy feeling that
results from the use of oil. I also add other therapeutic-grade essential oils to my
lotion and use essential oils
(aromatherapy) on the fabric covering the face cradle; please note that
you may request that I use unscented lotion. Some of the
essential oils I use include:

lavender
Lavender
oil is known to relax and calm. It is renowned for helping to
soothe the skin with its soothing herbal and floral scent. It is
also known to help soothe the mind and promote restful sleep.
This oil helps to moisturize the skin. |

patchouli
Patchouli
is an essential oil with many skills: earthy, balsamic,
grounding and balancing - it is helpful for stress and mood
swings. It is used in sensuous, exotic blends or for aroma
massage and body oils. |

clary sage
Clary
Sage oil is an essential aromatherapy tool for use in skin care,
deep tissue massage, and mood balancing. Clary Sage conditions
the scalp and encourages healthy hair regeneration. Earthy and
pungent in nature, Clary Sage stimulates the circulatory and
nervous system and is a powerful muscle relaxant. Clary Sage oil
is beautiful as a single note or combined with other essential
oils. |

sandalwood
Sandalwood
smells warm, sweet-woody, exotic and balsamic and has many
balancing qualities: it is sensuously inspiring, harmonizing,
warming and very regenerating.
|

tangerine
This
tangy and zesty essential oil has some great properties to help
relieve stress and other problems, but is mostly used to
increase circulation to the skin, reducing fluid retention and
helps prevent stretch marks. |

eucalyptus
This oil has
been an integral part of therapy for centuries. its woody and
medicinal aroma stimulates and invigorates the skin to full
vitality. |

lemon
The fresh, tangy
and airy scent of lemon energizes and uplifts you with a shower
of energy. |

verbena
Verbena oil is
known for helping banish the blues and depression. In the
massage oil it helps soften the skin and reduce puffiness. |

bergamot
This essential
oil uplifts the senses and helps balance the emotions. It
conditions, softens and smoothes the skin. |

grapefruit
Grapefruit oil
has traditionally been used to treat anxiety, depression and
lack of concentration. In the massage oil, its tangy-fresh,
bitter-sweet scent moisturizes the skin and helps with stress,
muscle fatigue and stiffness. |

lemongrass
This ancient oil
calls to mind a tropical experience. It is good for toning
tissue since it is well-known to help with sagging skin and
stretch marks. It also helps relieve muscular pain and increase
circulation. |

orange
Enzymes
contained in the fragrant orange peel help to remove dead
epithelial cells and to deep cleanse the skin. |
|

rosewood
This floral,
woody and fresh essential oil is often used to relieve tension
and stress. |
|
My massage includes
your feet, during which I use a special cream formulated especially for
feet. The foot creams I use include ingredients such as aloe, tea tree
oil, peppermint oil, camphor, jojoba oil and dead sea salt.
Facial
$40 ($35
if adding on to a 60-minute or longer massage)
Consider
adding a facial to your massage session or even coming in just for a
facial (which includes a neck and shoulder massage). Here is what to
expect when receiving a facial:
- Your
facial
begins by placing warm towels over your face, which opens the pores
and relaxes the skin and muscles.
- This
is followed by a cleansing of your face with a non-soap cleanser. My
fingertips are used to apply the cleanser and most of the following
applications, which adds to the relaxing effect of the facial.
- After
the cleanser is gently removed, an exfoliating cleanser is applied
and massaged into your face.
- Moistened
tea bags are applied over your closed eyelids.
- A
toner is applied to your face.
- A
clay masque is then applied and while it dries, your neck, shoulders
and scalp are massaged.
- After
the masque is removed, a lotion is used to thoroughly massage your
face and neck.
- A
soft cloth is used to remove any excess lotion remaining on your
face.
There are
variations to the basic facial that can be used upon consultation. For
example, in place of the masque or in addition to it, you might request
a yogurt/sour cream application which makes your skin tauter, smoother
and invigorated.
Salt
Scrub
$30
(only offered with a 60-minute or longer massage)
This
body salt scrub is an invigorating and cleansing treatment that leaves
the whole body soft, smooth and radiant. This treatment is a full-body
scrub using a blend of natural sea salts with special herbs and oils.
Couples
Some couples enjoy
the convenience of booking back-to-back massages, which can be done at
my studio, or in your location. In some cases, couples choose to have
their own privacy while their partner is being massaged and then relax
together afterwards; other couples enjoy each other's company during the
massage and savor the aromatherapy of the essential oils.
